I knit faster than I blog.

So I complained about how boring socks are and needing an interesting pattern but I was wrong. What I needed was fun stripey sock yarn (what comes next? what comes next?! - entertained by color, that's me) and I found some during my Thanksgiving vacation, which was truly a vacation because it included lots of knitting time. So what if everyone I visited now carries that stereotypical view of me as the Weird Knitting Lady (you know the one: she can't put the yarn and needles down no matter what, she knits on the bus and in church and while walking around and during mealtimes). Oh well! Look at these pretties!

first socks

My first for-me socks, using a 2 circs 2 socks pattern which I adapted from circulars to double points after 15 minutes of doing more wrangling with twisty circ cords than actual knitting. (argh!) Plus, you know what? I like double pointed needles. I like them, Sam I am! There, I said it. The adaptation was a bit of a pain, but they came out just fine and I can't believe how comfy they are and how well they fit. I didn't even swatch (don't tell!). Also you have to love the supermerino for being machine washable. (This is Artyarns 141.) And, well, I suppose you've gathered by now that I like pink and brown, so enough said.

first socks (for me)

This is the scarf I took to be my on-the-plane knitting project (yep, you can take 'em on the plane) and seriously, I should have practically finished it during the 5 hours of flight time but I was misreading the pattern and had to frog it four times and had nothing to show for my frustration when we embarked on leg two of our flight. I gave up during leg two and waited until I got to the yarn store and the owner spotted my mistake. D'oh! It's really not as complex as I was making it. :-D Fun and fast knit!

This lighting is horrible and I've still got to block and fringe it but it's Noro Silk Garden Chunky coloway 2.

my so called scarf

I liked the pattern so much I went back for seconds, though this one is a gift. This yarn is yuuhuummy but um, I lost the tag! Somebody identify it for me. It's a handspun, but it's one of those regularly handspuns I think. I'll have to write it down next time I visit the yarn store. :-/

Lastly, I knit a hat for DH's brother who is undergoing chemo. All the knitters who love him to pieces are trying to outdo each other with the love hats, hehehe. (Okay, I'm joking...sort of. :-D) He's going to have a hat legacy when he is through! This is Noro Kureyon 164. I hope it's not too scratchy! He says it's not but he'd never tell if it was.
